Terms of service
The short version
- You own what you create in ChalkTalk. We only use it to run the service for you.
- AI output can be wrong, so review it before you publish.
- Do not use ChalkTalk for unlawful, harmful, or infringing content, or to get around usage limits.
- ChalkTalk is free during early access. Any paid plan will show its price first and can be cancelled any time.
- You can leave whenever you like; email support@chalktalk.dev to delete your account.
1. Agreement to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Udit Kumar, the independent developer who builds and runs ChalkTalk("we", "us"). They cover the ChalkTalkwebsite, web app, and MCP server (together, the "service").
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you use ChalkTalk for an organization, you agree on its behalf and confirm you have the authority to do so.
2. The service
ChalkTalk lets you create tutorial videos by chatting with AI: it writes and edits video projects, generates narration, and renders videos. The service is in early access. We may add, change, or remove features, and parts of it may sometimes be unavailable.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country, to use ChalkTalk.
- Give accurate sign-up details and keep your login secure.
- Free accounts are limited to one per person.
- You are responsible for activity under your account, including by AI tools you connect to it.
- Tell us at support@chalktalk.dev if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the projects, scripts, images, narration, and videos you create or upload ("your content"). We claim no ownership of it.
You give us a limited permission to host, process, copy, and display your content only as needed to run the service for you, for example to send prompts to AI providers, generate narration, and render your videos. If you turn on a share link, anyone with the link can view that project until you turn it off.
You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, publish, or export.
5. AI-generated output
ChalkTalk uses AI models that can make mistakes. Output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or similar to content others receive. Review scripts, code, and narration before you rely on or publish them. As between you and us, you own the output generated for your projects, to the extent the law allows.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use ChalkTalk to:
- Break the law, or create content that is harmful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or violent.
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Impersonate people or mislead others about who made content.
- Create malware, spam, or content meant to deceive.
- Attack, overload, scrape, or reverse engineer the service, or get around usage limits, for example with multiple free accounts.
- Break the usage policies of the AI providers the service relies on.
7. Connected AI tools and third-party services
You can connect AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor to your account through our MCP server. A connected tool acts on your behalf and can read and change your projects. Only connect tools you trust; their use is governed by their own terms.
If you add your own AI provider API key, requests made with it are billed to you by that provider under their terms.
8. Plans, limits, and payment
ChalkTalk is currently free to use, with usage limits on AI chat, narration, and rendering. We may change these limits as the service evolves.
If we offer paid plans, we will show the price before you buy. Payment will be handled by Polar, which acts as the seller of record and may show its own terms at checkout. Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We will never charge you without your clear consent.
9. Our intellectual property and feedback
The service, including its software, design, templates, and branding, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms do not give you rights to our name or logo. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
10. Suspension and termination
You can stop using ChalkTalk at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@chalktalk.dev.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put the service or other users at risk, or where the law requires it. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your content. We may also discontinue the service; if we do, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your work.
11. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate. Keep your own copies of anything important.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the law of your country.
13. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims by others arising from your content or your breach of these terms.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using ChalkTalk after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and ask us to delete your account.
15. General
- These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
- If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a term right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger or sale of the service.
